Vikramadhityan- A ‘one time watch and enjoy’ flick!

Following the overused story line of two boys falling in love with the same girl, Lal Jose has delivered another arguable hit. He has cleverly incorporated the romance as an influencing factor in the lives of two men who are always at loggerheads, giving the movie a fresh factor. Vikramadhityan has a strong script and is devoid of the usual drama and mushy dance sequences. It follows the life of two boys, Vikrama (Unni Mukundan) and Adhityan (Dulquer Salmaan) who were born on the same day. We see that they are actually sons of a policeman and a thief respectively who were in love with the same woman. Keeping true to their professions, the thief stole the girl’s heart and the policeman watched away. Growing up together, both the boys befriend Deepika (Namitha Pramod) who calls Vikrama her ‘bezt frend’ and secretly flirts with Adhityan. Moving on, the Police finally manage to nab Adhityan’s father during his robbery act and parade him in front of the whole street. The young Aadhi’s heart breaks and he resorts to having bad company. Now many years later, while Aadhi is the bad boy, Vikrama is being the dutiful son and applying for the post of SI. Deepika on the other hand finally manages to pick Aadhi after he woos her with his dialogue, “Macho man times are long gone. These days, chicks only fall for guys who are size zero”. She boosts his ego by reminding him that what happened to his father might happen to him as well once Vikrama becomes the SI. The determined Aadhi, much to the surprise of his grieve-stricken mother and intelligent girlfriend, applies for this post as well. Now, the crux of the story is which on of them successfully manages to reach the top. Dulquer Salmaan has done a fab job. He seems like a superstar in making. Unni manages to portray his role as the muscular, intelligent and obedient son flawlessly. Pretty lass, Namitha has done her part well. She is almost worth fighting for. Actors, Anoop Menon and Lena have come a long way since their serial days. In the beginning, the movie had certain scenes that were very abruptly shot and left that way. You are left wondering if something happened or was it just a glitch. The intentions of the movie did make sense but certain scenes are unbelievable, especially the climax. Spoiler alert- While hundreds of youngsters back in Delhi are wondering when the dates for the civil service exams are going to be declared, our hero here prepares, writes and passes in a matter of seconds. The music numbers of the movie are only average. Vikramadhityan is just a ‘one time watch and enjoy’ movie.  Have a filmy weekend you guys!

It explores the life of three cousins, Divya (Nazriya Nizam), Arjun (Dulquer Salmaan) and Kuttan (Nivin Pauly) who love each other to bits. While Kuttan is an IT professional working in Mysore, his heart yearns for the open paddy fields and fresh minty air of Kerala. Divya aspires to do an MBA but her shady family astrologer says it’s time for the wedding bells to ring. Arjun on the other hand is the family rebel, a banned bike racer; he works in a garage. When they were younger, the three of them used to plan to move to Bangalore and stay together, away from their crazy family. Finally, each of them gets the opportunity. Kuttan gets a higher paid job in the city, Divya is getting married to Das (Fahad Fazil), a serious man who lives there and Arjun finds this enough excuse to move as well. Once in Blore, they put their party hats on. Movies, outings, long drives and the quality time they always dreamt of but when has life ever been so smooth? Arjun who desperately longs to get back on the tracks finds himself falling for RJ Sarah (Parvathy Menon) whose voice Bangalore wakes up to everyday. Most of us have the notion that when it comes to youngsters these days, it is always about fun, boozing, confused career decisions and going out, but this movie proves otherwise. In fact, it shows that life is better understood by them, they don’t worry over silly family feuds or long drawn enmities. When it comes to being together and supporting each other as a family, they get the brownie points. If you haven’t watched it yet, please do!! Oh but wait, what if you don’t understand Malayalam? No issues. Anjali Menon has made sure this movie has English subtitles that give full justice to the actual dialogues. Well, get going already!
